On Friday September 30, 2016, Saint Lucia Ambassador Emmanuel paid a courtesy visit to Director-general Shih, Chaojing Ocean Center. Located in Keelung, Chaojing Ocean Center is a multi-functional maritime research and education center.
As Ambassador Emmanuel is interested in maritime cooperation and there are cooperative aquaculture projects between Taiwan and Saint Lucia, Director-general Shih guided the Ambassador to see the aquaculture facilities and aquaculture species. The ambassador was especially amazed by the variety of species at the facility, including the cultivation of endangered coral species. The Ambassador is looking forward to more cooperation between Taiwan and Saint Lucia in marine research and protection.
Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister H.E. Allen M. Chastanet paid a courtesy visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan)
From August 23 to August 26th, Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister H.E. Allen M. Chastanet paid a courtesy visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Prime Minister Allen met with National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Chao-hsieh Wu, Deputy Foreign Minister Javier Ching-shan HOU, and several Taiwanese businessmen. He also attended a luncheon hosted by Vice Minister Leo Chen-jan Lee.
The Prime Minister also visited with Saint Lucian students and paid a courtesy call on Saint Lucia’s Embassy in Taiwan.

Ambassador Hubert Emmanuel attended the 2016 International Workshop on Strategies for Combating Human Trafficking, hosted by Ministry of the Interior.
In order to echo with the World Day against Trafficking in Persons designated by the United Nations, the National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior organized this
Others attending the event included Vice President Chen Chien-Jen and Minister of the Interior Yeh Jiunn-Rong.
The President noted Saint Lucia’s strong support for Taiwan’s participation in International Organizations such as the World Health Assembly, International Civil Aviation Organisation and United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In his response, Ambassador Emmanuel thanked the President for his warm words of welcome and conveyed greetings from the Government and people of Saint Lucia. He thanked the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for their contributions over the years, toward the social and economic development of Saint Lucia. Ambassador Emmanuel also thanked the President for his Government’s role in facilitating the establishment and operation of the Embassy in Taiwan. He specifically mentioned the role played by Foreign Minister David Lin and his staff and in particular the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Saint Lucia.
Finally, Ambassador Emmanuel stated that as the first Ambassador from Saint Lucia, he will work diligently to ensure the goals of the two governments in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation are met, while at the same time, making Saint Lucia a household name in the Republic of China (Taiwan).
